Re: tire size
I have 235X75-15s on my 83 S10 4X4. Doesn't rub, but I wouldn't go any larger. Comes close to rubbing.

Is your S-10 2wd or 4wd?

I just resently went through the whole aggrevating tire size choice too. What size rims do you have? My guess is 15". I have 225/70R15s on 15x7 rims. I could of went with 235/70R15 but that would of been to tight. I seen a 96 2WD with 225/75R15 and he said they didnt rub but it sure did look like a full wheel well.
So if your running a stock rim you probably wont have to worry about tire being to wide. If so wheel spacers are an option. 225/70R15 tires are 27.4" in Diameter. You can push it to 28" with a 235/70. I dont have ATs though. I have BFG T/A radials. I will soon be lifting the suspension 2" so I can fit 235/75R15 (29"Diameter) Yokahama Geolander AT + II tires. This set up will bring the 2wd S10 equal with many stock S10 4WDs.

I have a 4x4 and I have Lt235/75/r15's with no rubbing problems. My summer tires are p235/70/r15's and they look way too small. The Lt 235's fill out the wheel well much nicer. Also give the truck another inch of ground clearance.
