Good sub/amp combo?

I was wondering if this would be a sub/amp combo. For an amp I was considering the fosgate 551s and thats the power line not the punch if that makes a difference. For subs I was considering 2 fosgate HEs or Infinity Perfects. Any other suggestions on better equipment. Also who make the best quality capacitor?

Re: Good sub/amp combo?

Rockford is all about quantity over quality these days. My favorite setup so far is Alpine Type-R subs and a Alpine MRD line amp to power them. Everyone also raves about the Elemental Designs subs. They're a flat piston design sub, so it'll definetely give you some great SQ and people say they have great SPL too, but I have yet to hear one personally.

have u guys ever heard of ads? i was walking around in the swap meet a while back and i met this guy who had two jl's 10w6 with an ads amp (oh he wasn't selling speakers so it's not those generic crap like kingwood and rockwood). after asking him to demonstrate, that was no doubt the cleanest bass i've ever heard/felt . before that i never even heard of ads which stands for analog and digital systems. they are part of directed, inc. same company who makes orion, viper, and precision power so just from the get go u know these amps are awesome. can't remeber exactly the wattage per channel but it wasn't very much on that particuliar ads amplifier, i think it was only 50 or 75 watts per channel and he bridged it. i was just amazed and in awww. heres the problem though, these amps are really high quality audio equiptment so the price of course is way up there.

My buddy has a kicker L7 hooked up to a Zapco. It sounds good, but he needs to take care of the rattle.

I would think sticking with the same brand for everything would be the best since when they design amps and speakers and stuff like that they usually design them to work perfectly with their own stuff hooked up to them. But i doubt it really makes a difference. If you are on a budget buy lightning audio amp cuz they are really good. If you have unlimited money then buy like all alpine, or JL or something like that. Just dont buy generic stuff like legacy, and pyle, and stuff like that because no offense to chinese but i think all their stuff is built in china and they dont last that long. Like the LCD screens they make there are so poor. After like a few months or so pixels burn out and it just remains a green irritating dot on the screen forever.

Re: Good sub/amp combo?

i have 2 IDQv2 that i'm willing to let go for $200+shipping. they go for about $160+shipping or so. sound quality is is superb. its comparable to the alpine type R in SQ, but SPL, the idq will be a tad louder. Image Dynamics is a brand u can trust. they win so many SQ and SPL comps already and have proven themselve worthy. still the only company out there that does R&D for horns.

Re: Good sub/amp combo?

get some infinity Kappa perfects(www.etronics.com)with a jbl 1200.1 amp from ebay. This setup will pound you down until your ears bleed.
Kappa's pound incredibly hard for their price, not to mention their good sound quality.

Re: Good sub/amp combo?

So between the Perfects and the type Rs what do you guys suggest. Which one sounds cleaner? And what type of enclosure do you suggest for them.

Re: Good sub/amp combo?

i like the type-r's personally, and nothing beats a well built slot-ported enclosure.
