hear fuel pump
Not sure about your year, but on my 89 when you turn the key on there is definite zip - as the fuel pump turns on and build up pressure -
think you should hear something. Or loosen one of the fuel lines in the engine compartment - rubber lines and turn it on - should have gas squirting out of it when you turn the key on. |

Re: won't start need help/mechanic
i also have an 89,fuel pump problems...dropped the tank and banged it around a bit, also added close to 7 gallons of fuel first with no luck...the lower fuel line connected to the passenger strutt tower( the bigger one) comes from the pump

fuel pump
We had gotten new pump, checked to make sure it worked before putting it in the tank, installed it. Worked for about 10 seconds. -
Wouldn't start - check fuses, relays and everything - knew it could not be the new pump. Finally gave up and had it towed in - turned out it was the NEW pump - had to pay big bucks to have it replaced - All that work for nothing! New Pumps do fail ! |

yes sometimes new parts are bad from the manufacture...i had a 85 chevy celebrity, put it 6 new ignition control modules that started 2 mins and died, ended up spending a few more $ from a chevy dealer...drove the car 2 yrs and sold it running |
