Question Check Engine Light went off after battery died

My check engine light has been coming on numerous times. The last time it came on for a few weeks. I didn't have time to take the car in the dealership, so I was driving around with it on. Then one morning my battery was dead, so when AAA jumped started the VW Jetta GLX, the engine check light went off. Did it somehow fixed itself?

What happened to it? So, far, I have driven the car 350 miles and the light hasn't came on while driving.

Any suggestions?

Re: Check Engine Light went off after battery died

When your battery dies, it often times resets electrical components in a car. one of your components may read a signal and "learned" it. when your battery died, it removed the signal and shut off the light. It could also have been a bad connection at the Battery terminals, a problem that is oh so common. DON'T disconect the Battery just to turn off the Check light . on newer cars, this often turns the light on.
