Engine Problem Help!!!

I have a 93 sl2 and boy do i have some problems. My car will start and drive but it make a horrible knocking noise. i cant figure out what it is. i took it to a shop and they told me it had compression problems and that i need a new engine.

First question: Has anyone else had a knocking sound coming out of there engine. It doesnt matter what gear i am in.

Second question: If i do need a new engine then where should i go to buy one. Like a website link or actaully place???

the knocking noise is coming from under the hood or can u hear it inside the car? if its inside the car maybe ur air conditioner
