1996 v6 problem
I was cruising down the highway, 75 mph. Had cruise on. Heard more like almost a burp instead of a backfire. Check engine light came on, and it just steadily lost power until it died. Can not get it to restart. Changed rotor, wires, plugs, cap. Took it all the way down on the front of the motor thinking it may have jumped the timing chain, but when we got to the balancer and checked the lines against the rotor position, it seemed to still be in time. When trying to restart, it acts like it wants to start but it is almost fighting against itself. Coverter problems? egr, Any ideas?

Re: 1996 v6 problem
What code was stored in the PCM?
Did you check fuel pressure? To see if the convertor is clogged, unbolt the "Y" pipe from the manifolds and try to start the engine

Re: Re: 1996 v6 problem
Thanks for your help Merlin, we didn't get to the pcm...I had changed the cap, rotor, wires, plugs, and got it running, seems to be fine now..not sure what caused the inital problem...but it is running good now.
Thanks again Quote:
