Replacing '92 ES 300 tail light???

I need some help replacing the tail light on my 92 ES 300. When I pull the carpet back I find a lot of screws and wires. Has anyone done this and if so, is it relatively easy? Any sort of help so I don't have to go to the dealer and pay a ton would be a great help. Thanks.

92 ES-300 Tail light replacement

Hi,

I did this yesterday on our 'new' 92 Lexus. After you get the carpet along the back of the trunk folded down to expose inside rear panel you'll also need to get the side carpet pieces loose enough at the top to get to the outer corner of the back end. Each tail light assy. has around 5 nuts holding the assy in place. They are on the long, thin, brass-colored bolts extending into the trunk. I was able to use a 1/4 inch drive 5/16 inch deep well socket to remove the nuts. One of the @ 5 nuts is on a fastener coming in from the turn signal part of the assy. As I said it seems like 5 nuts per tail light assy. Anyway once you get all of the nuts off the assy can be pulled away from the outside rear of the car. The wiring harness still keeps the assy attached to the car. There are numerous lights in the assy and molded in the plastic next to each is the number of the appropriate replacement bulb.

Good luck,

Marty
