Question Exhaust or Intake

I have a '94 SC2 and I was wandering should I help my car breath in or should help it breath out first. Should I get my exhaust system or Cold Air Intake System.

Thanks for your help.

Re: Exhaust or Intake

thats a hard question cuz both make your car get about the same horsepower, both make your car look better, but only exhaust will make your car sound better. so i would probably go with exhaust.

Re: Exhaust or Intake

Wow AEM Cold Air Intake only adds about 10 or more horsepower. And will the APC muffler add about 7 hp.

Re: Exhaust or Intake

I went with the CAI first. It easy and quick to install & will give you the most power quicker. This may be all you want for awhile. Next would a 2 to 2 1/4 inch pipe from the cat back with straight though muffler. If you want more go with headers & straight thur cat. If you lucky you can find a stock header off a 92 SC in a junk yard for a good price.

Re: Exhaust or Intake

I would say the exhuast first. Or if its just the money issue, get a exhaust cutout ($10 or something) and the cold air intake.

Re: Exhaust or Intake

Yes that is true mods are expensive but I am working on my Saturn Project and am not to worry about money but my income doesn't allow me to bring much money in quick.

The exhaust system that I was going to do is buy a straight through muffler and have a professional custom make a cat-back system for my car and then add the muffler. Will this add more hp than CAI if so this is what i will do. Even though i think the CAI looks cooler.

Re: Exhaust or Intake

i think the exhaust is better cuz most ppl dont get the chance to look under your hood and everybody looks at you from the back and will always hear your car, so i will stick with the exhaust.

Re: Exhaust or Intake

Or save money for a month or so and buy them at the same time, thats what I should have done. I put the exhaust first, then bought an intake for $65 on ebay. well what exhaust do you want I have a Pacesetter off SPS, and thats a deep throaty sound and the intake makes just about as much noise its up to you but thats my suggestion.

I'd say go with exhaust first. But don't get it installed like some of the cheap shit you see around. I'd say get 2 1/2 inch piping back from your cat. This will give you a 10 hp increase easy. (It sounds better too than just getting a coffee can at the end) Keep in mind it will cost more to get your exhaust redone ($200-400) than to get a Cold Air Intake. You can get the best cold air intake kit on the market off ebay for a good price. K&N kit shipped for $121 that is what I got.

Does this mean that stock headers from 92s are better than the ones on a 94??
Also, for my money, I'm putting in the cold air intake first. While both mods might be similar in price, and similar in HP gain, the intake makes your gas mileage better. That way you can save your money faster to get your cool little exhaust system.
