Missed 4th while spraying :screwy:

Well I was seeing how much my 50 shot was going to help me so I went out on a country road and tested it out. The first time I spun through first so it didnt' work out very well. The second time I didn't engage it until the end of first. It feels a lot more powerful, well it did. I was in third and at about 8000 rpms I went to shift but missed and I just heard the engine rev up and hit the limiter. I eventually got it into 4th but it just started shaking. Then I tried the other gears and it shook to. I pulled it over and had it towed to my mechanic. He said I might have floated the valves and bent one....or possibly messed up the pistons and some other stuff. Anyone have any other ideas on what it might be??? I really need your guys help....please!

Re: Missed 4th while spraying :screwy:

You shouldn't float a valve from just hitting the rev limiter..
Did you put it in a lower gear than it should have been in?!

No the gears were the same. So your saying if I was using a 50 shot it shouldn't have floated the valves??? What else could it be??

Re: Missed 4th while spraying :screwy:

Good job, How do you miss 4th? I rarely spray in 1st, if so its at the higher RPM. I also make sure the juice is off when shifting to prevent an over-rev in the case of a missed gear. When I miss a gear is usually 3rd. You could have easily bent valves or cracked holes in the pistons.

If it were my car, the head would come off right away. Better safe than sorry.

Sorry to hear that, what it was only the first couple hits before you goofed? Now you have a reason to build a Nitrous motor. My buddy just toasted his ZC sohc(built for N20), he was spraying a 75 shot with 5-6psi of boost.

Yeah I only had it for a day and a half Yeah I know I'm a dumbass. Well hopefully the pistons are okay. If not what kind of pistons should I get that can take nitrous without breaking? What else should I get while everyhting is apart?

i bet you bent a piston rod. you were probably putting too much power to the stock block of the honda. and when you missed the shift it was able to reach the max. power of your engine, while the bottom end remains stock.
just be glad you didnt throw a rod and blow a bigass hole in yo block.

lesson learned? learn how to drive before you start playin w/ nitrous or forced induction.

I don't know if this means anything, but the autobox I have is the same box (JDM) that was put in 4th gen civics in Japan with the SOHC ZC engine (120HP). I have noticed it has quicker 1st and second than the old autobox I had which was mated to my D15... Does anyone know if there is a definite difference between these boxes...?

I have also noticed that Nissan Sentra 200STi's and Golf GTI's cannot keep up with me once I have taken her past redline on my SOHC ZC and manually change the gears, keeping her in torque band...
