Mk1 Motor Swap help/ advice

I have a question for you guys. I bought a 87 mk1 last july for about $900 with pretty much decent condition for its age. Driving it around for about a week I thought a 4agze would add more to the fun factor of the car. So I asked around to my local import shops if how much and how long to get it done cause I now If I'm going to do the swap myself it might end up like my 81 kp61 as a never ending swap that I havent got done for almost 2 yrs now. Anyway I found a shop that would do it for a reasonable amount, $1200 for the motor and 1500 for labor. So about the 2nd week of july I sent in the car for the swap and I paid half of my bill so they could get started. After all thats said and done its already december and I'm still without my mk1. Every week I call them up asking if when the car would be out, their answer would be like " We are still having problems with the wiring" all sorts of excuse like were still waiting for some parts. I think i've been patient enough not to be bitching at them but what am I supposed to do? Any advice anyone?

well, wiring is evil. and that engine isn't a direct swap. i spent about 3 months trying to locate the halfshafts i needed for my 1.5. but... 5 months is a bit long to be waiting for a shop to get your car back. have you actually gone down to see what they HAVE done?

I've finally gone there last week and saw that the motor was actually in but the wiring was all screwed up and out of the car. I think I'll give them the whole month of Jan to work on it the if its not done I see if they'll release the car and not pay the remaining balance so i could try and do the work myself
