1996 Maxima Wiper Fluid not working
I recently moved to England and haven't found a repair facility that I can trust. Problem: Nothing happens when I try to clean my windshield with fluid. The wipers work fine, but no fluid appears. I don't hear the "whiny" sound of the pump. What is the best way to troubleshoot this problem?

first take a small safety pin and clean out the holes where the fluid sprays out. Sometimes wax or dirt will clog those up. If that doesn't work, pop the hood and make sure the little hoses running to the sprayers haven't become disconnected or cracked in anyway. If that doesn't work, make sure your fluid bottle is holding fluid and isn't leaking out somewhere. If all those check out, most likely is the motor that's shot. Since you can't find a reliable mechanic, invest in a "Chilton's" repair manual. These manuals tell/show you how to repair or replace anything on your car. Buy the washer motor online and install it yourself. I buy a manual for every new or used car I get, and have saved thousands of dollars over the years doing small repairs like this one on my own.
Good luck |
