98 front suspension??

Hey all,

I've searched the forums for information, but came up without too much. Are there any decent aftermarket upgrades for front suspension for a 98? Mine is fairly bouncy and would like to stiffen the ride up a little. I've seen the Monroe's..but are there any other options??

Eibach progressive springs and Energy Suspension urethane sway bar bushings and end link kits. Since KYB does not make for 97-99, just keep fresh Monroe Sens-A-Trac's on.

The Sens-a-tracs weren't KYBs but they were a big improvement over stock. The urethane didn't significantley worsen the ride but did sharpen the steering response.

Did you guys put on the shocks/bushings yourself? I put rear shocks on and it helped some, but not enough. Any suggestions where to get the urethane bushings/if it comes in a kit or separate and anything I'd need to know to go ahead with it? I did some google searches and looked on the energy suspension web page without any luck. Thanks for the help.

Yes I put on the rear shocks, front struts and all the bushings myself. I measured the sway bar links overall length and the length from the top of the control arm to the top of the bushings to make sure I had the right hollow bushing length and thread depth so I could snug everything down. If you go into Autozone or Pep Boys and look at the various kits you'll see what I'm talking about. I suspect the Caddy/Olds dealer couldlook up all that info. or the parts guy will let you measure the pieces.

I'm not sure what you're expecting from the sway bar urethane, but all it does is cut down on the amount of body roll in lateral manuevering. Has nothing to do with straightline ride quality. Pep Boys online lists all part numbers from Energy. Early Aurora takes the following; 9.5164G set, 9.5105G set, 9.8123G set, 9.8120G set. These are black urethane end links and sway bar bushings and mounts. In the rear, press the urethane into the factory mounts that bolt to the frame and throw away the Energy universal bracket because they're different. Grease all urethane good before installation. All things considered, the most critical suspension component is a fresh(good)strut.

Thanks..I'm going to try and do this over the next month or so. My goal is to help 2 main issues. 1) Excessive roll on cornering and 2) excessive bouncing to get back to normal ride. I appreciate your input. I have never done front suspension work and will somewhat be learning as I go.
