90 Grand Am 2.5L

Hello all,

I've got a 90 grand am that I have been trying to get running. When I got the car there was no tensioner on the timing chain. I fixed that problem only to have the intake/head gasket give out. Not sure which one it was but replaced them both any way. Now it sounds like there is no oil getting to the top end of the motor, when there really is. Basically the car sounds like a firggin' diesel going down the road. My question would be, one, is it common to have the timing chain hitting the cover? and two does any one out there have any idea what might be causeing the noise? Any help is apreciated!
