code 1660?

I just failed my emmissions. He said the code was 1660. Anyone know what this means?

Another question, my DIC displays "oil level sys fault". What's that? How do I fix it?

According to my 1997 GM FSM code P1660 is for the Cooling Fan Control Circuits-Unleaded Export. Its a type D code,non-emissions related, no notification is given other then storing the code. It does not turn your service engine soon light on. Since it is not a emmissions related code I wonder why they failed you because of it.

Re: code 1660?

The other message was a oil level sensor problem on one of the other boards in the past. If the pressure is okay I'd check the sensor (located on to the right of the oil filter above, where the filter mount is sticking out parallel to the block ) and wiring to start .

re:

The service engine light is on. And I looked at the results of the emmission test and it says "failed - p1660 mfg code". I noticed that my cooling fan comes on and off when I turn the key, so I'm assuming the previous owner ran it this way? Any suggestions?

My cooling fans dont come on until the engine temp hits 220, when I had my coolent system flushed a couple of months ago I asked the dealer if the engine should be running that hot and if the fans should be kicking in earlier. He said 220 was right on the money as to when they should be kicking in and northstar motors are known to be hot runners when there is no air flowing throught the radiator.

As to the 1660 code setting your service engine soon light my factory manual says that it doesnt so maybe you have some other code stored in there that is setting it off. My manual says its a non-emmisions light, Im not a mechanic and dont pretend to be one, all I can tell you is what the book says.

Re: Re: re:

You need to get a complete scan, it's worth the $ to know what's going on in there.
