Piping 101

I need some help, any type of help would be nice, and yes before someone come's in here and tells me to do a search i tried. I'd like specific answere's to the make if the car.
After a long drawn process i might decide to do a custom turbo setup instead of buyin a greddy 18g turbo. The only problem is i would have no clue on what piping to use. i mean i know 2.5 but i don't know what degrees i need like 180' 90' 45' etc.. how many i need, how to configure them together etc. I tried doing a search on factory turbo kits but they never list the piping that comes in the kit, they always state All piping and accessories needed comes with this kit. So basically for a 92-95Ex civic what specific piping would i need for my turbo and intercooler? and the width like 2.25', 2.5', 2.75', 3' etc. Thanks a lot ahead of time fellow AF'ers.

Oh and on a sidenote how exactly does Dynotuning work? Cause maxspeed said i would benefit tremedously after the turbo, i would ask him but i figure i'd give him a break cause i've asked him plenty of questions already lol. So do you just go to a shop and get the tuning done yourself? Or do you just go to the shop pay about 150 and hour and a employee does the tuning for you?

Re: Piping 101

Try a Turbonetics Kit....not to expensive!

If you dyno tune with a dyno that has the inirtia and brake load you will benifit alot. I could send you the full info on why a dyno tune with a Mustang dyno would benifit you and your turbo setup.

Re: Piping 101

this is what you do, take your bumper cover off, mount the intercooler, and your turbo. Then trailer/tow it to an exhaust shop and have them bend the pipes for you. Expect to shell out about $150-200.

Dont go that route....the piping they have is junk, nothing is mandrel bent at a exhaust shop. How do you expect them to make a manifold? Im sure they dont jet coat either...which is a must!

Re: Piping 101

Go about it the correct and proven way. Buy a kit...OR find a turbo shop to custom make you one. You can buy the kit peice by piece if you wanted. But really....just buy a proven kit. You can try to find a complete kit for under $2,999.00. If you do let me know. We have Turbonetics Ball Bearing kits for $2,999.00 w/ Spearco FMIC.....

Good Luck!

Re: Piping 101

manifolds you can buy off of http://www.thepartstrader.com for fairly cheep... I/C piping for a 92+ civic you can buy here for $189 (http://www.overboost.com/obs/product...ooler%20Piping) ...if you use a homemade turbo manifold you may have problems making it fit to the turbo right (the pipe peace closest to the turbo may not fit right)- however... HKS sells pipes/connectors peace by peace here- http://www.hksusa.com/categories/?id=1080. that way you can just replace the one right by the turbo with something that will fit right!

anyway, i hope this helps some =)

Re: Piping 101

dude, quit trying to sell your shit....you think someone comes on here and ask a question to get a sales quote shot at them? No, they want answers to their questions. If you want to sell your stuff do it in the proper forum. Its so aggravating thinking you got your question answered when its only some jacka** trying to sell shit.

I agree you should go with a kit. I would be weary seeing someone that has never even installed a turbo kit make one up as he goes along. I would be surprised if the engine ran at all let alone more than a week without blowing up.
BTW you can get a Greddy kit(no I/C though) for like 1500 bucks. Comes with prebent piping. You can always install an I/C later after you've learned a little bit more.

Re: Piping 101

but the i/c piping for the greddy isn't 2.5. How much do you think the piping alone is going to cost me if i don't buy the kit. because the greddy kit for my car comes with a 18G turbo, and i really was going for either a t3 BB or t3/4 BB. will a t3 at 6psi have the same amount of power as a 18g mitsubishi turbo at 6psi?
