Angry 94 Z28 won't shift/speedometer quit reading

Hello all. My wifes Z28 speedometer quit working and the transmission will only go into first and reverse.( These happened at the same time ) Fuses all are good( the ones I could find ). I also plugged up a code scanner, but the only thing that would happen was the check engine and check gauges lights would come on and stay on.( no blinking ) I also checked for reference voltage at the VSS on the transmission, but had none. Does this sound like PCM failure? I was hoping someone in this forum could help me out. ( Are there "hidden" fuses in this car ?) Vehicle is 1994 z28. LT1/4L60E. Thanks in advance.

Well as far as I know every thing in that car is computer controlled. I believe, could be wrong, that your speedo signal is sent from the computer wich gets readings from various other places. It's calibrated electronicly with info on tire size, gearing, and all that other mumbo. The computer also controlls when your trany will shift. So it's totaly possible that you have a computer problem. But I'm not sure how to check the computer on your car. So I'm sorry for my lack of information, but hope what I have given you is helpfull.

That's the bad thing. Since I couldn't pulll any codes, ( which could also be a symptom of a faulty PCM ) I don't know where to start. If it stops raining this weekend, I am going to track the wires down from the VSS back. Hopefully I'll get lucky and it"ll be something like a broke wire.

It could be as simple as a faulty Speed sensor. Your car has five speed sensors. The main sensor, which is used by your ECM is on the top of the rear axle housing, the other four are on each wheel to support the four wheel ABS system. Check their outputs for fault. You need factory numbers? Let me know. I work for GM.

I've got a 92 RS 305 5spd, see pic, I can do that to, but he can do it with more ease, besides, burn outs heat tires, hot tires stick, more stick more traction with heads harder launches. When's the last time you where at the track and didn't see every car do a burn out????

Well unlike most, my 305 5spd is something to brag about. How many folks do you know of push 400BHP with a 305TBI unit? Not many. And in fact, I own 2 92 camaros. My other is pushing around 800BHP. Blown 454(496stroker) I've built beter than 10 third gen camaros, more than half of which from the ground up. What have you done?

Oh, you have learned to read people, very usefull in a camaro forum. Do you use that ability to try to give helpfull information? Or are you a used car sellsman? They learn to read people too, but they use it to rip people off, and so far, that's what your technical information seems to be, a rip off.
