In order to remove the trim panel surrounding my heater controls and stereo in my 2003:

1). Remove the panel by pulling firmly but directly outward on the bottom two corners, then the top right, then around the ignition key.

2). At this point, the trim panel slides out of the dash with the cigarette lighter still attached.

3). Set the parking brake, turn off the car but leave the key in the ignition, place the car in 1st gear to give room to remove the panel.

4). Slide the panel out far enough to get your hand behind it, there should be just enough slack in the cigarette lighter wiring to do this.

5). Gently depress the two sides of the blue locking tab and pull it towards the engine and it should slide off.

6). Firmly depress the underside of the gray connector, you should feel it depress a bit (one of the sides will). Holding the white portion of the cigarette lighter, pull the gray connector towards the engine and it should release.

That's it. Reinstallation was the exact reverse, just be sure to have the car OFF and NOT in ACC (or running), you want to avoid possible shock. You want be able to completely remove the key from the ignition, however, when in gear.

Thanks for the info, lol sorry to ask i came accross another problem. I painted it didnt damage anythign and got it out. Well not the adapter wont work, and same goes for the other one next to the ash tray. I dont know why neither will work now. I checked all my door panel fuses, and nothing was blown. Any idea what i might have messed up. My reverse lights dont work either and they arnt blown out and fuses are all good. Thanks for helping, and if you got any more advise i wouldnt mind hearing your output.

Are you checking the fuse inside the car on the passenger side panel, driver side panel or under the hood ? You might want check fuse G on the passenger side, fuse 2,3, and 7 under the hood and J on the drivers side.
