'90 300zx
i finally found a 300zx in the ad's on the newspaper but its a '90 year. i wanted a 91. but would it be much of a chance from a 91 to 90? i think he has all the upgrades too like leather seats, t-top, TT, but i dont know if his chair is power reclined but it said it was powered everything, and did they have heated mirrors in the '90 model? any disadvantages with a '90 300zx? and the price seems a little high for a 147k mile car, hes asking for about $5,500. but it is a 5 speeder which is hard for me to find around here and esp. hard to find imports here since i live by the motorcity and all there is around here are giant SUV's and crappy american cars.

Re: '90 300zx
why do u care if it has a powered chair and heated mirrors. if i found a $5,500 TT, i would buy it right away. i cant find any TT thats under $10,000 around the kansas city area.

Re: '90 300zx
I just bought a 90TT and it is solid as could be, the seats in mine are all power including recline, everything works great only issue so far is a power steering leak somewhere.
Just keep in mind yo uwill have to do some maintenance items to ensure it runs well like PCV, cleaning all connectors, fuel damper....... Although all big PITA work not expensive, but make sure when timing belt was replaced as that will be a big ticket item.

Re: '90 300zx
That's alot of miles on a TT. I'd ask if the turbos have been changed at all. They tend not go very long past 100k. Drive it. Does it still pull strong? I'd just check over it like you should with any used car. 5,500 is good deal even with all the miles. TT can be a money pit if you're not careful, so check the car over carefully.

Re: '90 300zx
There were early on problems with the '90-'91 300ZX due to warped heads. Be sure the heads of those early cars were replaced under warranty.

Re: '90 300zx
k thanks for the tips guys, but i think i'll wait till after the winter to get the car becuase i really dont need a 300zx in the snow now and i do plan on garaging my car. but it seems to low of a price now that i think about it and i havnt gotten all the details suck as maintanance and accidents and i dont even know what kind of a person drives it. if it was an old grandma that drives it i woudl take it anyday but if its just another 21 year old then forget it, i did see another car that was about 7,000 but i dont know if its TT, is it true that all TT came with a spoiler? and the NA didnt coem with one?

Re: '90 300zx
i have seen a few N/A with a spoiler, but i dont know if they are stock. i think that 300zx look cool without a spoiler.

Re: '90 300zx
The usual signs of a TT are the front air dam with the louvers, Twin Turbo sticker on rear and rear spoiler, although all of these could be added.
Check out the dash to see if it has the boost guage.

well, today later im gonna call the guy and ask about more specs, im guesssing from his area code hes about 20 miles away from me so i wont be seeing the car until i get good enough facts about the car and being more interested in the car. but i still worry about that 146,000 miles on the car... if i could replace the internal parts or rebuild the engine like new cam shafts, piston, gaskets, and the stuff, would the engine be back to good condition? or would the engine block itself be totally fried and dead and weak? i plan on adding more to the internal mods later and ending up around 400-500 hp and of course, reinforcing the car and bottom. but to buy a new engine is about 4000-6000 dollars and thats almost the same price of the car... for the same stock engine, vg30dett. but even if i buy a newer low milage engine, i still plan on doing the engine mod's but time will be extended to make more money
but if anyone knows where to find this engine that is able to ship to the US or a US store that sell them, please inform me. i live in michigan near detroit to be more exact. thanks

Re: '90 300zx
If the car is relatively ok, you don't have to touch the bottom end at all. The stock internals will hold up just fine to bigger better turbos that'll get you into the 400-500 hp range that you're seeking. Reinforcing the bottom end is usually reserved for going beyond that. The block as long as it is not cracked or damaged in anyway should be just fine. I've seen others melt their pistons before and the block be just fine. The only reason I could see you buying another engine is if you wanted to ultimately build yourself the Ultimate engine. Since modding it outside the body would prove more beneficial and easier to do overall, that's the route that most ppl take. If you just want to stop at bigger turbos, new internals won't be necessary.
