Driving a GSR
I just got a 95 GSR teg, and I was wondering what the RPM is that Vtech kicks in, and what are some good shift points for daily driving that will keep the car lasting long. and any advice on racing it would be helpful too, although i wont be doing that for awhile.

VTEC (might wanna remember how to spell that around here) Kicks in at about 5200 rpm I believe. hmmmm shift points to make a car last longer... I haven't had any luck with that yet. but if I am trying to baby her or save some gas I just try and shift around 3000 rpm..... but most of the time I forget and shift around 5-6000 , and for racing I bring her up to just under redline of 8000 rpm 'cept for launch then I do to it at about 1500-2000 ( studded winter snow tires ) or about 3000-4000 for my summer tires.

I think your GSR VTec kicks in at 4500 RPM. I used to think it kicks in at 5600 RPM until I installed a VTEC light or indicator. Do you guys actually feel your vtec kicking in? I drove my friends 2001 SI and I can hear and feel the vtec. I don't know if the Integra GSR 4dr is supposed to be quieter or smoother? Any opinions?

Re: Driving a GSR
B18C1 VTEC is at 4400rpm at the earliest (where it crosses over is dependent on more than just the rpm, throttle position, coolant temp for example are other factors, but not ALL of the other factors).
at ~5700rpm the secondaries open.

Re: Driving a GSR
Well as I am sure you guys know, but if not here you go the B16's don't have secondaries, the B18C and B18C1 are the only two motors with the dual runner intake manifold. The dual runner intake manifold is what makes it feel so smooth, it gives the GSR optimum (spelling) power in the lower rpm range and then the secondaries open up and use the second set of intake runners that are shorter and straighter that the other set. The secondary runners gives better high rpm power. So basically they combined two different manifolds into one. Kinda the same consept that VTEC works on.

Thanks WHTTEG. Thats why when I was gonna upgrade(downgrade?) to OBD-I, I was gonna use the P72, even though theyre like twice as much, rather than like a P28, cause those will just leave them wide open the whole time, unless you get like a Skunk2 which only has one set.
