no power to fuel pump

88 F150 still
no power to fuel pump. i used a tester and nothing. i ran a hot wire down there and the pump works and it acts like it wants to run now but will die after about one second. would this be a filter issue or something else?

Re: no power to fuel pump

Best bet would be to change the pump. Sounds like its on its last leg. In tank pumps are a pain in the butt to, so I wish you the best of luck

the pump is in-line

it is a new pump and filter. could there be a reason the pump is not getting power? i tested the wires and there is no power to the pump. but i added a good hot wire to make the pump function and still not wanting to stay running.

Re: no power to fuel pump

Ah a new twist to the story. Sounds like the connection is bad, the only thing I can guess to do is chande it out...new wiring and connector, unless you can find the bad spot in the wiring and fix it that way. Best of luck to ya on that one.

fixed

it was the eek relay and the small ground from the battery was to the frame and needed to be in a plug that goes to the computer.
