Gay? Whats it all about?

Why are so many more people gay now? What defines you as being gay?
Questions I would like answered are why do people turn to the same sex for sex? Wasnt it illeagal to have gay sex? Ive heard that there are like gay bars that you can go to and get lost in a maze? Whats that all about. Something with walls with holes in them for anominous sex. Weird. Is gay sex somthing the government is supporting in order to help population control?
Thanxs

Re: Gay? Whats it all about?

Hi Mr2Spyder2828

Interesting topic, and one that should attract varying answers/opinions if others choose to join in.

I've no idea why people turn to the same sex, for sex, but I've heard from gay people that it's "in their genes", and a part of their make-up. Personally, I dont believe that and think it's a mix of social factors/pressure which are bestowed upon people either whilst growing up, or at a later point in their lifetime. My own personal opinion is that to have sex with a person of the same sex, isn't normal, but having said that, as long as their activities are in private and have no affect on me or my family, then they should be allowed to carry on if that's what turns them on.

Something interesting ( frightening even, depending on how you view it ) though, regarding this abnormal practice being blamed on genes, and therefore by inference, being hereditary to a greater or lesser degree, is the subject of how homosexuality fits in to evolution.

If you can accept that more and more people are stating that they're gay these days, than ever before, and if you can accept that the numbers of gay people will rise over generations ... if being gay is hereditary and already in the genes, then as generations pass we could ultimately end up with a world where hetrosexuals and their lifestyle of normal reproduction processes, cease to exist. Indeed, even now, gay people are looking towards artificial means of having children to call their own - maybe one day, many years into the future and certainly not in our lifetime, the world will be full of gay people, who resort to artificial methods of having offspring because they simply don't believe in normal hetrosexual sex. It's a frightening thought, but a thought that could one day, become reality.

Another frightening fact which I don't particularly find pleasant, is that it would appear that in crimes where male children are the victims, a not insignificant number of the criminals are gay. This is worrying, as is the number of male gays in positions of trust/power ( teachers, social workers, members of the church etc ), who are also gay and at times betray their tust and impose their sexual will on young persons.

I don't for one moment think that the government is promoting homosexuality or gay sex in order to control the population, as you suggest, but I do think your government and mine ( here in the UK ), are scared to say what they really feel about homosexuality, and that they "accept" it because A ) it may be a vote winner, and B ) just as people no longer find it acceptable to refer to black people ( for example ) in derogatory terms, members of government cannot be heard calling members of the gay community, "queers" or "shit shovers" or whatever else colourful term some people may have for them.

Re: Gay? Whats it all about?

Honestly? I dont really care. If people want to be gay, I can't really do anything to change that, can I? I mean, it's not my lifestyle, and I myself am not exactly down with the whole idea, but Im not the one living the life--they are. Im not in any position to tell someone how to live his/her life or what sex to be interested in. I see it as, as long as a gay man doesnt come up to me and chastise me for being heterosexual, there is no reason for me to be prejudice against him for being homosexual. Gay sex being illegal? Never heard anything like that. As bad as I may view it, sex is a private matter, and what people do in private is their business; I really dont see how they could successfully enforce a law against something like that.

Neither.
If its their choice and i guess most people do think about it a lot. In my opinion, to be reffered "gay", is a person that has allready experienced love for another of the same gender. Maybe not 'love' but something close. Mutual yet sexual.
I dont think, if a person has had fantasies about being with the same gender, should be classified as homosexual at all. Because what if he/she did experience it, and didnt enjoy or think how it might be.. they go straight back to being their old 'self'.

Allthough, gay, i think is nearly as normal as being straight these days.
Ive seen a young gay couple a few days ago and i wasnt triggered by their actions at all. I though it was rather nice. They sat there having lunch, holding hands and reading newspapers and it didnt look wrong at all. And even if they were pashing or what not in public, i think it would be jsut as off as a straight coupld pashing. Im not sure if that makes sense lol

Ive been asked, "if you think being gay is okay, then why dont you do it". Deffinetly not. Because i allready have what a woman has. I dont need a sets of two.

Other than that, i really dont have a problem with it. And i dont understand why some people are so against it that are nearly as violent over it as anything else. Its crazy.

I think being gay is wrong. Even if it were in your genes, you could always resist it. It's a matter of will power in my opinion.

Re: Gay? Whats it all about?

i think there were always about the same amount of gay people as there always has been. More people have just stopped hiding it. Anyway, if your gay, go right ahead, I have a few gay friends, and it hasn't changed my friendship with them. As long as they don't hit on me, more power to them.

I think the genes thing is a load of BS. However, it's their business and so long as they don't make it my business - I don't care. Caring about it would be like caring about whether people's belly buttons were insies or outies.
From one standpoint though, of course it's wrong, the reason people have sex is to "make babies" - but then again, the last time you had sex, were you attempting to procreate, or just have fun?
You could say that being gay is as wrong as using condoms then.

good post.

If that's what makes someone happy,I have nno problem with it.But just as with 'straight' relationships,I have no wish to be there when it happens, and I'd rather not be party to the details.

That's the dumbest thing I've ever read. That's like saying, "Why do black people choose to have darker skin than white people. I don't care if it's in their genes, they can resist the pigment if they want to."

Ask yourself this question. Why would gay people choose to become part of the most discriminated group in the world? As far as I've heard most gay people say it would be great if they could be straight, but they can't. I personally don't care if someone is gay. It's their business what they do in the bedroom just like it's my business what I do.

When they choose to reveal they are gay, they are choosing to also suffer the consequences of being gay. They must accept these consequences, and one of those is discrimination. They need to learn to keep it to themselves or accept that they are intentionally different, wrong, and that they may be discriminated for it.

Being gay is morally wrong. And to think that the US has recently made sodomy legal in some states sickens me. The US is degrading its morals and family values, and the gay rights people are leading this destruction.

And lastly, gay people choose to be gay. It is no natural occurence. You have to have mental and sexual problems to become that way.

I may have different ideas about homosexuality than some of you guys simply because of my religous preference, but I am shooting 'straight' with this one. I think it is nasty, but as long as a person doesn't flaunt it or make a scene of themselves being gay, I have no bone to pick with them. I would have to say that I would not choose to associate myself with a person who intentionally and so blasphemously shows themselves off in that way. I am not a homo-phobe, for I know gay people. It just saddens me deeply that some people choose to ruin their lives that way.

It is a lifestyle choice, just like being a drug-addict, pedophile, or alcoholic. I have friends that are drunks and drug-ads, but it makes our friendship more difficult.

Where is your proof that people choose to be gay? Because your religion tells you so? And the fact that you base your opinion on your religion nullifies your entire post. Some religions say its ok to kill "the enemy" and blow up buildings, yours says it's ok to discriminate against gay people because its "morally wrong". Sorry buddy, but the bible is 2000 years old and has been translated and rewritten many times, I suggest you don't follow it word for word.

People do choose to be gay. Just like people choose to be alcoholics and drug-ad's. Your lifestyle is a chosen one.

Man was created to fit a woman, not a man. That is proof enough. No person has unintentionally become gay. Ever, in the history of the world.

Where did I say its okay to discriminate against gay people? I said its not okay,

You can suggest that I don't follow the bible word for word and I'll suggest that you might want to take it to heart before your time on Earth expires.

You should spend your time being sickened by more important things. Also, do you happen to be disgusted by condoms, or that some people have sex for pleasure? (God forbid!)
You know what, I bet you that because sodomy is legal, my family values have totally disintegrated. Oh wait, nevermind, that makes absolutely no sense whatsoever - and you're crazy.
I mean what with 10% of the population being gay and all, my children (when I have them) are obviously going to be more likely to turn out delinquent and have no morals than I was when I was kid.

EDIT: Also I'd like to state that it is my firm opinion that rock 'n roll music, and short skirts are destroying our societies' ethics and morals, as is free thinking, hi-top shoes, diet colas, etc.
