street racing

Man there is a big story here in central Illnois. two cars where street racing one was a mustang, I think the other was a srt-4. They lost controll and the mustang fliped end over end 6 times. The driver survived and is looking at 5 years for wrekless homicide, when he gets out of the hospital, and another six for leaving the scene. The passenger burned to death. the srt-4 driver is facing wrekless homicide 5 years. and another 6 years for leaving the scene of a crime. kinda makes you think twice........

Re: street racing

Yeah. This past spring, less than a mile from my home, a Camaro and a Corvette raced. This is on a road with a 70kmh speed limit, two lanes each direction. While rounding a very broad curve, the Corvette apparently clipped the Camaro. The Camaro wiped out. The medivac chopper flew right over my house. Unfortunately, the Camaro guy died. The Corvette driver fled the scene. The real tragedy here is that the Corvette driver commited suicide a day or two later. Apparently he couldn't handle the guilt.
You could see marks on the road for a long time, and there is usually a wreath at the side of the road, even now.

Re: street racing

here in california i woudl say we have the strictest street racing laws. It is rediculous, you can get your driver's license suspended for just being at a race, even if you don't race or anything. Just being there. and i think if you race they just take your car. done deal, your car is gone.

Re: Re: street racing

In Ontario, the previous government drafted legislation that would have prevented enthusiasts from even installing so-called "racing" components. I.E, no blowers, turbo's, N2O, maybe even aftermarket heads. The cops would have been able to order the parts removed. Well, there is alot of car enthusiasts in Ontario, so the legislation was never enacted. It would have cost too many votes, I guess. Still, you talk about strict...
There is alot of street racing in Ontario, though. Many innocent people have been hurt or killed. That is what causes politicians to dream up stupid legislation like I mentioned above. Short, spontaneous stoplight to stoplight encounters are one thing, but if you're going to measure off a distance and race fast, I say do it a a track. At least where I live, there are a few tracks within a one hour drive, or so. Including Grand Bend and Toronto Motorsports Park.

Re: street racing

why street race when you can autoX legally?
besides, if you only want to drag, go to the track on the weekend and braket race.
I won $100 once. compare that to getting hurt or arrested, and I'll take the money every time!

Street Racing- hurts the innocent. Some people just push till there is no more. Maturity lessons the deaths but still..

i've heard about a million of these stories..
they are all very sad, and just as sad very true.

i will still race, and prolly always will, but there are some stuff that everyone should know and remeber:

1) Before you do this kind of stuff KNOW HOW TO DRIVE!!!! you should know HOW and CAN do things that you must do some times (ie: put it on her side, 180s, controll a spin.. ect)
2) Know when to swallow your pride and back off - some times you gotta take a loss but it sure beats killing people (and sometimes yourself)
