Title of post says it all. Wondering if anyone else has a plow on their tahoe. I just put one on, works great except for the front end sag. I cranked up the torsion bars all the way and the tires still rub on the fender wells a little bit. I have bigger aftermarket tires. Just purchased some 2004 Z71 rims and tries for it and Timken load levelers to replace the bump stops.

Took some pics today of the old bump stops and the new Timken Load Levelers.
As you can see by the big pics (sorry) the tires were rubbing against the fenders.

plow on tahoe
I have a 97 tahoe with a western 7'6" plow. I also cranked the torsion bars up but i am very unhappy with the way it rides and steers. With the plow lifted my truck does squat quite a bit but does not touch the tires. My tires are the stock 245/75/16 size which I am changing to 265/75/16 after this season. I was considering upgrading my torsion bars to 3/4 ton when I saw your post. I already bought new bup stops from the dealer at $25 a piece. The new bump stops are much harder rubber and are solid one piece. I have not used the plow since I put these on. I am interested in these load levelers you bought how much are they and were did you get them?

Glad to hear someone reply to this post. I never thought about upgrading the torsion bars, could be rather expensive. I would like to see how your plow sits with the OEM bump stops. The load levelers I bought were a brand called Timken. I believe you can go to their website and get their contact information. Call them and they will give you the name of a dealer in your area you can order them from. Mine cost around $175.00, they work great and the front end does not sag at all anymore. I also got new tires and rims since the picture was taken. Found them on ebay, set of brand new take offs from a 2004 Chev Silverado Z71. Got them for $500.00 not a bad deal. I will post some new pics of the truck with the new rims soon. If there is anything I can do for you just let me know, good luck with your Tahoe!
If you have any pics I would like to see them...... |
