Clutch on 1994 GTI

Recently bought my daughter a 1994 GTI and the clutch engagement is near the top of the pedal travel. It also feels vague and stiff. Is this the end of the clutch or can some adjustments be made. What does a new cflutch cost for this car?

Re: Clutch on 1994 GTI

I Have a 1997 Gti And My Clutch went Out After A Few Weeks Of Owning it. I Noticed Some Tightness In The Clutch Then It Started To Slip. I Would Have To Let The Clutch Out Really Far For The CAr TO Start Going. A Week Later My Clutch Was Blown. I took It To A Shop And Found Out Not Only My Clutch Was Bad But My Pressure Plate needed replaced, and Flywheel need refinished. Also My Car Has A Self Adjustment for the Clutch tension. I Would Suggest that you go to a shop and have it checked out. If You Have Over 80000 Miles on the car and its the oem clutch and pressure plate, id have it replaced to help save you later on.

Re: Clutch on 1994 GTI

i forgot to add...a automatic adjustment not a self adjustment and that was what messed up my clutch...and to have it all replaced it costed around 1000 dollars with labor hours and getting all those things replaced..but in the end the car runs much much better
