Got whooped

Ok, here it goes. Back when my automatic was in. I was driving down the highway at about 70. I was with my stepbrother, and all we do is go around and mess with other cars (to try and race). Anyday, so a old man in a (i think it was a 94) Crown Vic. police car was going about 60 with a honda civic with a fart can muffler behind him. I pulled next to him and stayed a while until he got the message. He punched it and so did i. I pulled past him with ease. So i hear the civic behind him shift down and past him (while the Crown was still punching it), switches to the other lane and then passes me ( i still have mine punched). So eventually my speedo hit 120 and i figured i'd better let off. Anyday, all the way up to 120 the civic still pulled in front off me like i was sitting still. That car was no doubt the fastest car i've ever raced, and it was a 4 banger. Here's the kicker... i saw that exact car run at commerce that weekend at not suprisingly, it ran a 11.9 quartermile with slicks (go figure). When i saw that i wanted to cry, lol. The moral of this story? Dont judge a book by its cover...and if you ever see a yellow civic with black wheels dont race it, lol.

11.9, give that guy some props.

If he built it, he knows his stuff.

Although, I have 3 cars that could kick his butt

Yeah i think he did. It was an 40 year old japense guy. At commerce he was wearing blue shop clothes. But the thing was when he poped his hood i didnt see a turbocharger or supercharger.... I dont know how it was so fast. But there was alot of nitrous stuff under there.

It does not take much power, when the cars weighs as much as a wet dog

Give some metal, so I know I can walk away from an accident.

Yea dude, gotta watch those fart can equipped, goofy wing sportin rice burners. Most are just annoying but there are a few quick ones. Just break out the checkbook and make sure it dosen't happen again. A $600 stage II NOS kit will go a long way twards swatting insects and for a weekends worth of work you can't beat the results.

Re: Got whooped

I've never seen a fast fart can equiped, big wing car...Most fast cars have nice mufflers, and are wing free,or just a nice little carbon fiber one.Yah,the fastest n/a civic i've heard of runs 10's with a lot of nitrous....

Re: Got whooped

I've seen a 680 hp CRX run 9.8.
which is sad, because a 680 HP mustang can run way faster than that. just goes to show you that power isn't everything. RWD, a good tranny and driver skill help alot too!

Weight transfer is KING. Suspension is where its at.

It is not always about power to weight when it come to the 1/4 mile. Road course is another ball game.

its n/a yet using n2o? gwad your bugging me.
weight transfer good launch and gearing makes huge diff in 1/4. trying to member the ratio but one gear kit cuts like .5 sec stock while a whole catback is only taking of .2 gears probbly cheaper too.

what...A crx with that much hp has to be running less...a kid with about 400hp runs 10sec 1/4 mile..

N/A=Naturally aspirated, meaning all motor and no power adders. Running nitrous would not be n/a.
