Unhappy T&C not shifting

I have a 1997 Town & Country and it will not shift out of second gear. I have been taken by a local dealer with a "wiring harness" at a cost of 350 in labor and a total cost of 2500. Wrong!!! I have been told there is a sensor on the tranny that tells the brain to shift ? Help me

Tom

Re: T&C not shifting

Actually, there are several sensors on the trans, all intended to assist the PCM to do its job. Essentially, they allow the PCM to "see" the operation of the trans shift, slippage, etc. All could affect the trans operation, but they typically set appropriate codes when they die. If the harness did not fix your problem, either the tech did not diagnose the problem properly, or did not diagnose it at all. Either way, it appears that you paid for a guess, which entitles you toa free "get out of jail free card. In other words, tell the shop who worked on the car that you want it fixed this time, at their expense. You have already paid for the repair, now get what you paid for. Ray
