Dome light will not turn off!!!!

I just got a 97 camaro for my first car. It was missing the fuse for the dome light so I put one in (a 25 when it called for a 20) and it seemed to work fine. Then I realized some of the fuses were not the right ones but everything worked fine so I let it go. Then one day the dome lights started coming on when I got on the gas and then turning off. Then they just wouldnt turn off at all. I finally went to discount auto and got all the right fuses put in there and they still stay on all the time!!!!!!!!! what is going on!!!!!!! help this is killing me!!!!!

Try taking the fuse out, if it still stays on then you shorted that line together. That's wierd though.

Well the best I can do is have you check the switch that the door operates. That may be bad.

The door sensor isnt bad because the key still dings when the door is open. Could it be the dimmer switch...it seems to work . It dims all the stuff but could it be faulty and thats why they won't turn off?

the light switch in my drivers doorjam of my 91 went bad once, actually it bent and when i closed the door it wouldn't press it in, making my interior lights stay on, check those out on both sides, take one switch out and put the fuse back in, see if they come back on, if they do, try the other side, if they still come on....can't help ya.

I tried pressing directly on the door sensor and they still won't turn off

even though you press on the door "sensor" it still may be bad, the swith part itself may be bad. That would be my only guess. Also you may want to put all the right fuses in just to be safe. Check all of them...

i also found out that the radio is supposed to stay on untill you open the door and it doesnt do that all the time and when the radio turns off befor you open the door is when the dome lights don't work too. But it works sometimes an not others it is driving me crazy!!!
