Re: loud pitched sound in cold start up

I do not live in the cold weather like you but sounds to me like you broken down oil.
Means that when oil frezzes and then unfreeze and freeze again loose it ability to really lubricate your engine. Go change it and look for antifreezing aditives.

Re: loud pitched sound in cold start up

Do not worry. Is not that I am asking you to add coolant to your engine oil. There are OIL ADDITIVES that will prevent the thermal breakdown caused by excesive heat or excesive cold(your case). Do an oil change and make sure the OIL you are adding contains such OIL additives to prevent it to loose the ability to lubricate our engine because if the freezing and unfreezing. Also in JC Whitney they sell electric blanquets so you can warm your engine before firing it up

Re: loud pitched sound in cold start up

well is normal to burn up to 1qt between changes. but thq qt already is a sign of engine wear. What is the mileage on it?
