Re: help for transmission oil change
sometimes on the transmission oil pan theres a drain plug, i would go that way if the tranny oil pan is not leaking, if it is then go to a parts store and get a tranny filter and gasket set for your model car, chock the rear wheels, raise the front of the car, get a drain pan and get ready to get dirty. a 1/4 inch drive ratchet and socket set with extensions would do the job. i think the bolts are 10mm size. loosen all the tranny pan bolts and dont forget the drain pan. let the tranny oil drain in the drain (catch)pan. then loosen all the bolts and remove the tranny pan. dump all the excess oil in the catch pan. use a gasket scraper to clean the mating surfaces off the tranny pan and the tranny. There are a couple of 10mm bolts holding the filter on to the tranny remove them. Note on the gasket/filter kit >there should be a tiny filter gasket dont forget to remove the old one and replace with new one.. DO NOT OVER tighten the bolts, a little tighter than snug should be fine. when you got all the gasket material off, use some brake clean to remove any oil from the mating surfaces. Brake clean the bolts too. OK now place the new gasket on the tranny pan and it should be self explanitory. Take the bolts and thread them into the holes so that they hold the gasket in place for you four would be fine how ever easiest for you. then using the socket and extesion thread the pan bolts and pan to the tranny being careful not to crossthread any bolt threads. even hand pressure could cause damage. if you feel you got the bolts in correctly replace the rest of the bolts using the same method. snug all the bolts down using a criss cross patter, then go back and do the same thing tighten a little more (about a 1/4 turn or less after snug.)than snug being careful not to crush the gasket. refill the transmission im not sure but put about 2 to 2 1/2 quarts start the car and check the level and add as needed.
