'96 Suburban...need help.

I have a friend who has a 1996 Chevy Suburban and is looking at removing the governor, I just wanted to know if this was possible. If it is, where is it located, and how would it be removed? (Sorry, he doesn't like the 100 mph limit).

The governor or in this case "fuel cutoff" is programmed into the PCM calibrations....You may find an aftermarket source with a calibration that will change it...but why? Do you really need to do over 100? There are enough people getting killed at 65

Well, it is not NESSECARY to go over 100, and it is understood that enough people get killed going the normal speed limit anyway, but for events when you hit a governor and start to buck back and forth it kinda sucks. How much would it cost to remove this, do you have an estimate or could you show me where I could buy the parts?

A Suburban doing 100 mph? Now there's real fuel economy... :-) Who's buying the gas?

What do you mean for their safety? It is only used in track events...not driven on the streets...
