heater problem?

i know this sounds stupid, and in all honesty, it is. i have owned a 87' 300zx for about 6 months now. so far i havent had to use the heater, but now winter is setting in, and im a bit confused. the console is a wierd screen, with a few buttons. ive tried for a while, but have had no luck in getting it to blow anything but ice cold air. am i doing something wrong, or is there a trick to it? anything would be helpful.

I know a guy that has a couple and he has had to change the heater cores in all of them. I dont know if he just had bad luck but you might want to just try getting your system pressure flushed. Also someone might have bypassed a leaky heater core in the past (I know I am guilty of having done that).

AS far as the screen
