Exclamation 86 Iroc actin up

Well, my Iroc is actin up. It's got TPI, so you know. I can start it up, but, when I gas it, it stalls out. What could the problem be here?

Forgot one thing...

The battery is almost dead. Like, really really low. I can get it to start but when I hit the gas it stalls. Could this be why?

Re: 86 Iroc actin up

then its prolly your alternator. start your car and then remove jumper cables. after that, take off the neg battery terminal, if the engine dies than its your alternator.

NEVER do this on an internally-regulated-alternator-equipped car, or one with a computer!! This can easily burn-out the diodes in the alternator and the voltage spikes can wreak havoc on the computer. Take the car (or battery and alternator) to an auto parts store and have them checked for free.
Otherwise, that diagnosis is spot on!
