Exhaust/wheels

I have a 96, 6 cylinder auto and I wanna put an exhaust on it but I'm not sure what kind (if any) would be alright on an automatic. Also if you know of any places that have nice chrome 18 inch wheels for a decent price let me know. My car is black and the windows are tinted (with some interior stuff done) but I'm looking for some exterior mods too. Might be lowering a couple inches in the spring. Let me know of any suggestions!

Flowmaster 40 Series is a good muffler to throw on and then u can get 2.5" mandrel bent catback system custom made by midas

Thanks, but now I'm second guessing doing any more to it cause I almost blew out the engine the other day, damn automatics don't shit when they're supposed to sometimes. I was checking out wheels in a mag I got the other day and I didn't like the chrome as much as I thought. They look nice on my brother's truck, but that's a truck and this is a dinky ass car. Anyway, thanks for the advice!

I'm gonna get it inspected within the next couple weeks cause something under the hood has been rattling loudly the last week or so and I haven't had problems with it before now. Except soon after I got it, it smelled like anti freeze and it ended up that it need a new water pump which was about $500, which sucked. So I'll let you know how it goes and if it's fixed soon!

Re: Exhaust/wheels

Yes the exact same thing happened to me! i took mine snow drifting and a few days later the water pump went. But the water pump only cost $89. You got screwed. Its a whole lot of work to put it in, not no $400 worth though

That happened like right after I had gotten the car for my 16th birthday. They said it's a pain to put in, I'm not sure exactly how much it was, but somewhere around there. Luckily I didn't have to pay for it, my dad took care of it, but I still felt bad cause that's a good amount of money for something stupid sounding like that...anyway, the noice I was talking about in my last post, totally went away and they couldn't find anything when they looked at it. Even though they had said it sounded like the ac compressor. The car sounded like it was going to break down, it had tons of noises, then when I was coming home one night it totally went away. Next time, my brother in law's just gonna look at it cause he thought it sounded like the steering or something. Oh well, I'm looking to buy another car in March or so anyway! So it doesn't matter too much anymore!

Re: Exhaust/wheels

yeah chrome on avengers does not look good. I had Bosal 2.5 in cat-back exhaust on my V6 avenger, it sounded so mean.....i loved it and suggest it 100%. As for rims, anything but chrome.

I traded in my Avenger a few months ago and got an 04 Tiburon. Working on lots of mods with that now! Looking to buy wheels once our driveway and garage are done! Thanks for the input though!

Re: Exhaust/wheels

My '97 also winds WAY up before shifting gears in the auto trans. I wonder why the wind up so much? Also, I have seen some Avengers with chrome wheels and I think they look good-wheels like Sebring models-nothing wild and crazy though.

Re: Exhaust/wheels

I disagree with you guys, chrome on avengers look very good. Avengers have a sleek low profile body, and with a bit of chrome glistening, 5% tint rolling your way, you can't help but to stare! Atleast in my experiences!
