Braking in snow noise

Yesterday, towards the end of our northeast blizzard, I took my car out to see how it would be in snow. I found that when I braked with moderate pressure the LowTrac light came on and I had a steady clicking noise that sounds like it is coming from the driver side front.
When I let off the brake the light went out and away when the noise.
When i put the brakes on lightly everything is fine.
This noise does not occur on clear roads no matter how hard I brake.

Any suggestions as to the cause/problem?

I know it's not the chirping sound you get when pads need replacing.

Most Likely

I assume the ABS system was kicking in, but I wouldn't think you would hear a clicking noise when it does.

Re: Braking in snow noise

Hey, when the ABS kicks in depending on the sorounding noise you can actually hear them.
I have never driven on the snow but under extreme wet roads and when pressing hard sometimes I can hear the clicking sound of the ABS kicking in. So that is normal

Re: Braking in snow noise

Thanks for verifying - that's what the dealer where I bought the car says. I just don't trust car dealers very much
