Please for the love of God, do some research before jumping into something like this

The spec has the qr25de, 2.5L DOHC CVTC (Continuously Variable Timing Control), aluminum block (atleast I think so), tiny-ass rods, how much more do you want to know?

You need a turbo before you get a downpipe, you're all certain of what size downpipe you're going to get but it seems you have no idea how you're going to get it, who you're going to get it from, what it does, or where it goes. If you plan on going turbo be prepared to spend atleast 7 grand including install, it will also help to know what you're actually doing so if/when something goes wrong you know how to fix it. There's WAY more to doing a turbo than just simply getting a big turbo, intercooler, and a downpipe.

As for building up the engine, that completely depends on how deep your pockets are

Re: Engines-upgrades

I'm sorry, but apparently you don't know or you wouldn't be making the kind of comments that you're making. I'm sorry to be harsh but it seems like everyone these days wants to go get a turbo and they have no idea how one even works, much less what you need to run one properly. You can't use an intake made for your car if you use a turbo, you can't use a header with a turbo (yes it's a header, not headers, we don't have v4's here). If you are running enough boost to warrant internal work on the engine you will need a custom made exhaust, not a greddy.

Internal work is the same on nearly any piston-driven car, you upgrade the pistons and the rods to forged versions that are stronger and normally have a lower compression to help prevent detonation. No companies make pistons and rods for the qr, so they will have to be custom made. If you plan on doing a turbo setup including internal work you're looking at over $10k worth of parts and labor, and you better hope you have someone who knows what they're doing because VERY few people have successfully boosted the qr. The companies don't listen to the customers when they are told the qr can't hold any more than 270whp, they blow their engine, then they give up. There are no turbo setups available for the spec by any reputable companies, you will need to have one custom made. You're looking at having to get a boost controller, BOV, wastegate, all sorts of custom piping, custom downpipe, custom pistons and rods, intercooler, turbo, injectors, fuel pump, fuel management, engine management, and much more.

Re: Engines-upgrades

wow....you really know about cars. I'm impressed! What you should do is buy your turbo kit from me. I've got the hair dryer supreme for your spec man. OK #1. any turbo kit will not have headers and you'll have to have a modified intake since the aftermarket one won't work once you get turbo.
#2 You shouldn't own a car!!
#3 I hope you have a lot of money
#4 I hope you know a lot of smart people that know a lot about cars because obviously, you don't
#5 do some more research before you come online saying what you're going to do to your car before you even know anything about it
#6 I hope you enjoy your ECU on your car because I know you'll be enjoying it as you mess up your car modding it without a clue on what you're doing
#7 sr20 is a nice guy, but I can't stand to let you come on here spitting info that you have no clue about
#8 All of the nissan guys you're gonna run into are gonna tell you to search, which is a good idea for you since asking dumb questions is only gonna get you torn up like this and acting like you know what you're talking about when you have no clue is even worse!! Good luck with your car.....I hope you blow the engine for the good of all spec v owners

Re: Engines-upgrades

oh by the way.....I don't mean to be an asshole....but seriously though.....I will help you out with your car if you need it.....I just couldn't resist to say that.....everyone goes through the same things when they get a new car and want to mod it, but seriosuly man, you need to do a little more research on it before you start saying what you're gonna do when you have no clue about it. Asking dumb questions is better than ignorance. At least you're learning instead of trying to teach what you don't know. My advice to you is really look around....try b15sentra.net forum. It's filled with lots of info, but the members will absolutely rip you a new one if you come on there spitiin shit like this. Make sure you use the search button located in the right hand corner and if you can't find your answer there or need a quick answer.....than ask questions. Serioudly good luck with the spec. Just don't do anything stupid!

Re: Engines-upgrades

and seriously....I love my sr20de engine in my sentra, but it would take a lot of money to be able to beat a stock camaro ss out of the box....yes....it's true....a 4 cylinder can beat a v8, but I think you picked the wrong engine to do that with.....the qr25 in your car will only handle about 270 hp before rods blow and shit like that.....it's gonna take some serious dought before you're beatin the ls1's....trust me on that.....posible....but a lot of money.....oh....and that front wheel drive is gonna kill you when you need traction with that much HP.....good luck beating the corvettes....you should save your money and buy a faster 4 cylinder if you wanna beat the 8's

Re: Engines-upgrades

ok....for your car....try powertechimports.com forcedinductionracing.com
b15sentra.net
pttuning.com
they make cold air intakes (AEM is one of the best), exhausts (usually 2.25 and stromung makes one of the best), pullies, balance shaft removal kits, header (hotshot is best), nitrous (but nothing really over a 50 shot wet kit for your car and please consult a mechanic before installing!), short shifter kits (I think the one's that made is made by a company called mossy and can be found at mossyperformance.com and the other is B&M which is coming out for a short shifter soon for the spec), extremedimensions.com for body kits, ummm, motor mounts, eibach springs, sprint springs, tein basic and ss coilover systems, rims and tires are univeral pretty much (just make sure they don't rub and the offet is like 114mm or something like that), hmmmm, synthetic oil, hmmmm, I don't know....check out b15sentra.net!!

Re: Engines-upgrades

it's both good and overpriced
Personally I don't think they're worth the money, but some people like having only Nismo stuff on their car
