resonator? do i need it

I have a 03 trailblazer w/the inline 6. On the exhaust system after the muffler there is a resonator. I wanted to put a new exhaust tip in place of the resonator. would removing the resonator cause any problems? does anybody know how the vehicale would sound? If anybody has done this or any info would help

Hey arc, after you cut it off, did you install an extension then a exhaust tip. Also did you weld everything or use clamp-on stuff, my welding skills need some help.Get back to me and let me know what you did. Thanks, Im tired of seeing that thing.

Re: resonator? do i need it

I went to a shop and they cut the resonator off the back and put in about a 6 inch extention tube, and then welded in a 2 foot stainless 4" tube "magnaflow" straight out the back. It has a nice low rumble, yet not too loud, it is perfect, and looks good too.

Just an update for you all. I had my resonator cut off and put a
chrome 3 and 1/2 out tailpipe on. The sound is nearly the same
and it looks a hell of alot better. Ill post some pick when i get
a chance. Highly recommended
