Hi,
I have nissan 200SX (95) with automatic transmission. when I start accelelating and the transmission switches from first to second gear I hear sounf and feel the "jerk" (push). It seems to be only happenning between 1/2 gear. I accidentaly learn that my friend with 92 Sentra has exactly the same problem - so it should be pretty common for Nissan. So my question is -- how bad is this proble? Does it mean I have to replace the transmission? How long would the transmission last if I won't replace it? Thanks a lot, Ol |

Actually, i've encountered that problem with my previous Sentra...when I brought it to the Nissan repair center, it seemed that i stressed out one of the springs in the auto tranny...(due to me racing my rice ass with an A/t) and had to replace it
It didnt cost much though, it was like a $100 all in all, everything worked and shifted perfectly fine after that repair. |

Re: Please help! automatic transmission problem
yeah, it's called an accumulator spring, If thats the only problem you could probably go a indefinately without fixing it. all it does is dampen the shift. in fact. all a sports shift kit does is remove those springs. My biggest worry is what happened to the spring, and do you have metal floating around in your trans. If you don't get it fixed, you should probably get a flush
