Re: h22 civic swap
i really really want to ride in an H22 civic. i hear that they dont handle worth 2 shits, but if you can get the power to the wheels, who the hell cares...good luck man, i really wanted to do this with my car.

Yeah I want to ride i one too...but until I do I will not jump on the handles bad list cuz so many people say it but haven't experienced it. Although there is probably some truth to it because any decent amount of power over stock hp in a stock civic w/o suspension upgrades is going to handle just that much worse I guess. If you get the swap keep in contact RoboDeath... |

i researched this swap thoroughly and almost did it. i actually ended up doing the next best thing: buying a prelude (H22 in it). i like this engine alot. i just dont know if it is a practical choice for the civic. many people have told me this. like i said though if youve got the patience and money, let loose. as i said: id love to drive/ride in one.

h22
go to h22acivic.com. that will tell you everything you need to know. don't listen to that crap about a/c and understeer. you can buy an a/c bracket for the swap. put in some integra stock springs to support the weight. all those myths were made up by the b-series guys. their jealous of the torque. goodluck with the swap. i'm about to do an h23 swap with an h22 head. i've ridden in an h22 civic. it's very fun. steers pretty well too.

i've ridden in h22 civics many a time (mostly 92-95 hatches)
don't listen to what people tell you about them handling like shit. they're very capable of handling normally with the correct suspension setup.

Re: h22 civic swap
everything I have read says that 1. the weight difference is not as massive as people would have you believe (but yes, there is more weight) 2. it doesn't handle anywhere near as bad as people say when set up correctly 3. it is possible to keep both power steering and A/C

Re: h22 civic swap
what about CRX guys? what do you think if i put the H22A in the CRx, is it that bad? or people just make it up they said that ..the H22a is so heavy and my Crx can't handle it. is that true?

Re: h22 civic swap
what is it that makes the integra springs capable of supporting the weight? just curious. the shop i was talking to here in columbus told me several times that this swap was a bad idea...i myself just think about sitting a 300 lb person on the hood at all times. thats got to effect something...

Yeah I've been told its the increased weight on the engine too... But its unavoidable w/ any swap although not as much as in the H22. But like others were saying your gonna need upgraded suspension cuz a civic w/ a civic engine already doesn't handle the greatest...so w/ any increase I would think you would have to upgrade. In chating on AF I was told by someone who had a friend w/ an H22 in a Civic that the only A/C problem his friend ran into was when he went turbo. He said the turbo manifold bumped up against the A/C condenser or something to that effect...could be solved w/ custom manifold I think.

Re: h22 civic swap
The integra springs are already supporting more weight up front than the civic. they can just handle more weight than the civic springs can. i think you can actually use aftermarket integra struts, etc. to support it too. it's really not that bad of an idea, and that engine in a crx would kill a lot of cars. it would be pretty quick. if you get the one with the limited slip you'd be running 13's with the basic boltons. I'm sure that the crx could handle it. like i wrote before, go to h22acivic.com. they have everything you need to go. good luck. later

Re: h22 civic swap
my friend has one in his hatch and it runs 13 s with stock tire presure. he has $1300 in suspension done and 1800 in axels. when u lanch u will have problems with ur stock axels. but when u get everything not much will be able to beat u.

I took a look at that h22acivic.com site. Didn't find it to informative though seeing as most of there options lead me to a blank screen or didn't lead me to anything just stayed on the same page. Maybe it was just my computer but I don't know. If they fix it though it should be a good site.
