first engine build
i will start out by saying this...i have no experience with this sort of thing, but i am very mechanically inclined.
with that said...in 3 weeks im gettin a dsm, prob with a lot of miles. if i bought the SBR block and head, would you (and by "you" i mean the dsm gurus only) advise me to have them sent to a shop to be built? the thing is, i dont know of any shops around here that have experience with this sort of thing, so i think id trust myself just as much as id trust them. and if i should build it, is there anything i need to know first? (i know mechanics of the motor i.e. "the arm bone connects to the-hand bone") lol. also, if i end up gettin a 2g, is the magnus motorsports EVERYTHING i would need for the swap? |

IF you arnet comfortable putting the motor together, I would ask SBR to do it. They will charge a fair price because they do this in thier sleep. Another mechanic will take longer to get the job done, and therefore will most likely charge more. Plus aside from SBR and other DSM only vendors, and a select few local DSMers, I dont trust anyone but myself to assemble my motors. "Mechanics," "Shops," and even "Dealerships" dont know shit about assembling our motors, namely the tbelt installation and tenioning. I have seen more than a few brand new 3k dollar motors scrapped as soon as it fired up because of a bollixed tbelt job done by some garage. That being said, just ask Mike what he would charge to ship it to you fully assembled. It may be worth it to save you the aggrevation and risk.
