Enamel cure time

The paint is Boyd True Blue Pearl. I live in Arizona, USA where it is about 40 degrees low/60-70 degrees high (fahrenheit), also, we have low humidity(around 30%). the body still smells like enamel when i get it up close, does this mean its still slightly wet? its been in my closet since the day b4 Thanksgiving and my house is always @ around 70 degress. should it b dry by now?

I would give it at least two full weeks.

yes if it still "smells" it's still not dry.. but if you want to polish it you still can just as long as you know that:

1) you would take the risk of creating deep scratches because the paint is still soft

2) the paint would get orange peel again as it continues to shrink so you would need to polish again.

some enamel would still smell two months after you spray them. the key is to avoid handling them before it's "almost" dry.. even though from almost dry to fully dry might take a long time.

I agree with pflua. I`ve also had some projects using enamels that I `ve had to wait months before being able to handle the body. This was with testors high gloss clear and about 3-4 coats.

I agree with both of them; I usually work on other projects for a while and just wait at least a month and a half before finishing work on an enamel paint job.
