Philosophical thought and recreational drug use

Howdy all,
Just wondering about different peoples experiences on different substances. Here are some of mine:

Weed (pot, cannabis, mary jane):
Usually just can't focus on, well, ANYTHING for the first 1/2 hour. Then everything is interesting and has deeper than surface meaning. Like why is paper square, when it could be round and our left hands get a workout too by rotating the paper.

Speed (meth, gas, goey, gogo):
Everything has slightly altered meaning. And one thought can be delved into MUCH deeper. Eg, life is for living in the moment. But how can I be living in the moment if I'm standing here thinking about the moment? Oh man I need a drink.

Pills (pingers, MDMA, X):
I LOVE EVERYBODY! EVERYBODY LOVES ME! THE WORLD IS JUST HERE TO SHARE AND CARE AND GROOVE and goddamnit I've got shy turtle syndrome so no roots till tomorrow with the gorgeous chick I'm currently grinding against.

Heh! I can comment on a couple of these, though I have never knowingly taken speed or one of its derivatives.

WEED
Usually just makes me relaxed, and I seem to get not too much of the non-ability to focus thing happening, but rather that everything slows down. Talking to a sober person after I have smoked up makes it seem like they are talking too fast, and I often feel slightly bombarded, and that I want to get away. If I smoke too much weed, which I hate BTW, I just feel plain stupid. Short attention span, inability to focus at all, and it pisses me off, only I am too mellow to get worked up. At this point, I just want to find a quiet place to sleep it off.

MDMA (ECSTASY)
I don't get the same reaction to MDMA as apparently a lot of people. I do feel "the love" exaggerated somewhat, but not to the extent that you describe, Oz, or that many other people experience either. I definitely look at the world differently, and the best way I can sum it up is by this experience: while rolling from the best ecstasy I had ever taken, I had to go to the bathroom. I spent 10 minutes in the bathroom trying to remember how to go, and then another 10 minutes having a debate with myself as to whether or not I should leave the bathroom or not. That's about how E makes me feel. It generally makes me very talkative, and far and away my favorite thing to do on E is to have someone drive me around in a fast car, techno music blaring. I could also say that it makes you a little like a person with OCP (obsessive-compulsive disorder), as you have an idea and you go with it to exaggerated lengths. I will also add that having some weed on hand to ease the "coming down" process from E is recommended.

COCAINE
Not much to report here. Unless I have never had enough to really get me as "high" as I am supposed to experince, it generally feels like taking a large quantity of caffeince. It is smoother and more enjoyable than caffeine, but I notice no profound difference in the way I view the world from a reflective standpoint. As one of best friends would agree, it is the most over-rated drug we've ever experienced.

DXM (DEXTROMETHORPHAN)
This stuff is just scary. If you take a lot, it allows you be at a point where you would have long since passed out if you were drinking alcohol, but you will still be conscious. In my experience, it is a good drug to take if you can just sit around and do nothing - if you have a lot, it makes movement scary. Good for sitting around watching TV, or talking to friends (preferably freinds who are taking DXM with you). It definitely alters the way your perception, and makes you feel distant (hard to really describe - a more pharmaceutical description of DXM or other disassociatives will cover the experience more accurately); and as I said, make sure you don't have to do much of anything if you take a significant amount of this stuff.

Weed:
Depends on the stuff. Sometimes, it makes me tired and i just feel like laying around. But sometimes, I get extremely goofy and laugh a lot. I tend to be able to comprehend everything going on around and debate a disagreement or explain something to someone who doesn't understand whatever they ask or we're arguing about.

Never done anything else. Tasted cocaine, but all that does it make your tongue numb(which feels kinda cool if you high already). I've smoked with muscle relaxers sprinkled on top of it. That's a pretty cool added high.

Weed Don't smoke nearly as much anymore, but I still enjoy it a whole lot. Makes me very talkative sometimes, and makes me chill other times. Makes me pissed about having to go learn about Thermodynamics homework, and I usually end up not doing, kinda why I cut down.

Psyllicibin (Magic Mushrooms) Stimulates senses like crazy, and provides tons of intellectual stimulation as well. The first few times were awesome, but later on I had a bad trip and swore them off forever. Can be VERY scary at times. Won't touch them again, ever.

Speed Didn't really affect me a whole lot, partially because the only time I did them I was very intoxicated. Stayed up all night, basically felt like being drunk for 8 hours.

Valume Very relaxing, I just sat in one spot for 3 hours, totally content with being in that comfortable place.

Haven't touched anything else, and don't plan on it. Damn sense of responsibility is finally kicking in.

done pretty much everything but crack, heroine, speed, and PCP. i did all of these because i am an idiot. i have to add this-if anyone downs drugs and they havent taken them, you are an idiot. try ectasy and then talk to me. there is almost always a safe way to take drugs, make sure there is no driving involved!

i beg to differ about the coke comments. it WAS my fav drug, actually. reasons for this: i could take it whenever i wanted to and go about my daily business without interference. even something as little as weed or alcohol would affect me. its not really a high, its more of a rush....hmm, take 6 or more cups of strong coffee and this would be a similar experience. this is coming from a person who drinks coffee everyday.
-if u plan on buying, make sure it has a hint of a yellow in it. if it is white as in pure white, then that stuff is cut WAYYY too much.
-one time i finished an 8 ball in 2 days over a weekend while delievering pizzas in my teg... wow those were good times.

Weed- like water ,smoke it all day every day, not much to say.

beer- social drinker with a low tolerance (aka 2 beer queer). but it's cuz i'm aways high. 2 blunts and a 6 pack is all i need to have a pretty good time at a party.

shroomz- intense as hell, results in thinking too much about nothing, somtimes i wish i could put the high on pause for like ten minutes just to chill out and stop grinding my damn jaw. i smoke like 2 packs of cigarettes in the course of my 4-6 hour voyage.

coke- too much fun and exensive to ever do again, unless i come across mounds like tony montana. not much fun unless you are going to be in one place for the whole night or you have a little coke bullet to carry it in, you need to "re-energize" every 20-30 minutes and sometimes gets tedious.

Acid is fun as hell, for some reason it feels less intense than shrooms most times and is therefore more tolerable.
ecstasty- was mad fun when i first started doing it. sometimes you say things to people you wish you hadn't the next day. you're nice to people you don't even like, also smoke maaaad cigarettes

dust/pcp- worlds most horrible drug. makes you feel like a bug on the wall. slow to react and think. me and my frieds would smoke a dippie and sit there just fried and reatarted for like three hours. never doing it again.

acid shrooms E and coke make it soooo damn hard to fall aslep.

i've stopped doing any illicit drugs other than bud, it's something to try and make your own impressions of them, when it stops being fun without them is when it's time to chill out.

I like to bang my head up against a table for half an hour, and then when I can't think or see straight anymore, I claim that things have a much deeper meaning and that I'm capable of much more meaninful thought. Then I drink a cup of rubbing alcohol, and I find everything has a new meaning.

Oh and freebasing smartees, oh wait, nothing happens.

Free base!! I was wondering if that was going to be mentioned! I have a friend who has done pretty much everything, except for the typical taboos, crack and heroine. He told me that he did free base every day for a week, and then stopped because it was so damned good that he never wanted to stop doing it.

Also heard from a friend of a friend that was put on morphine during a serious hospitalization that it is about as good as it gets, you are sublimely content sitting there doing nothing - guess that's as close to heroine's intense high as you can get without taking the full plunge.
