Question 98 Camry Dash light replacement

Does anyone know where I could find some web based information on how to get to the dash lights on my Camry? I have dash lights out on the heater controls and the tach side of the dash panel. I can't afford the stealership charge this close to Christmas, so free advise would be appreciated.

I replaced the indicator light for the transmission indicator (auto) and I'm hoping this is a little easier.

thanks,
grandparabbit

I no about the tach light

Hey all you need to do is get some new 194 bulbs , remove the housing around the guages, and pull our the intrument cluster. behind the cluster is little green things that turn these are the bulbs. Pull out and remove the burn out bulb. This is also a good time to check your other bulbs. Replace the new bulb and place back in and your done

Any ?'s just ask
Drew

and also mayeb time to do some painting
check out what i did

Re: 98 Camry Dash light replacement

Hi Drew,
How could I open the dash to access the gauge area just like you did - for my 93 camry? I got a reverse glow gauge and would like to do it myself, but could not find the correct screws to get to the gauge. I greatly appreciated for your help.

The illumniated "D" on the gear indicator has gone out in my 1995 camry. Is it possible to access and replace the bulb.

Drew,
Besides taking out the two top screws, what tools did you use to remove the clips from the ends and bottom of the housing? I took out the two screws and the ends and bottom would not budge.

Thanks

Did you try the service manuals available at the top of this forum?

iflyjets7706. this thread was old even before sixesnsevens woke it up.

Drew's last post was TWO YEARS ago. I doubt he is still reading questions like yours.

If your car is also a generation 4, there are 2 clips at the outside of the little "wings" on the gage cluster cover. I used a hook like tool, similiar to a dental pick with a right angled bend and pulled straight outward right by the clips. You could also use a small slotted screwdriver taped to protect the vinyl and pry right by the clips.

Here's a link with some great pictures on the whole process:
