will this homemade OBD II Diagnostic Scan Tool program my remotes?

i ran across this GM scan tool on ebay and it appears to be a homebrew piece of kit developed by a car loving geek. the guy has a superb feedback rating so i assume it does the job, but can it program my remote keyfobs for my 2002 chevrolet malibu? if not, what kind of GM scan tool do i need to look for. thanks for any suggestions!

Re: will this homemade OBD II Diagnostic Scan Tool program my remotes?

Most scan tools on the market will not do the reprogram. The scan tool has to be a bi-directional scan tool to work. The majority of scan tools on the market will only read and not communicate with a car computer. If you find a scanner make sure it is a bi-directional scanner first. The one that I use is made for GM dealers and costs 2500 then you need a PC to update the scanner.
