Post Turn signal information 2001 Grand Am

For anyone driving a 2001 Grand Am and having a problem with the turn signal just deciding to quit working, and then to be working fine again when you take it to a garage.

I went through this and it is NOT the multifunction switch, no matter what they tell you... it is the hazard switch AND, believe it or not...

Pontiac realizes this and will fix it, eventually!!!

It is scheduled for a recall sometime in Q2 of 2004. Soooo.... if you do get it fixed before that... hold on to your receipts so Pontiac can reimburse you with the recall, or, you can wait until they get around to sending out the recall information.

This took about 3 months of pure hell and torture for me to get this simple problem fixed, and get some answers (none of which came from GM customer service, or their executive customer service), so if I can save anyone that frustration, I am happy to do so.

That is a simple problem to figure out I have done at least 100 hazard switches this year so far.

On the recll GM is waiting to build up a supply of switches before it issues the Recall but don't be surprised if you need the switch replaced again for the recall.

Let me add to this...if you are having a problem with your turn signals, that is a safety item...take care of it now!
There usually is a provision in the campaign to reimburse you for previous repairs covered under the campaign.

If you press the hazard button on then off real quick the signals will work again. Do this if it happens again. But fix it soon , my advice is just to get you out of a pinch till you fix it.

Does a recall of this type exist for a 95 grand am? What are the symptoms of this problem with the directionals?

Re: Turn signal information 2001 Grand Am

loose clip for the hazard lights , pressing it in and out makes it a temporary connection which allows me to use signals. All the signals are routed through the hazard switch.
