Problems with windshields... anyone?

I am about to replace my windshied for the second time since I bought my FX35 in April. My driving habits haven't changed. I put on the same amount of hiway miles as I have for ten years. In that time i've replaced only two windsheild in total. Now I'm on my second in 8 months. The crack is identical to the first one except for the fact it is on the opposite side. Has anyone else noticed even the smallest pebble can cause this kind of damage?

It does on my Buick Regal. My FX45 hasn't yet though. Lets hope it doesn't.
