GS-T Stock Specifications
I am trying to find out the stock specifications for the 95-99 eclipse gst. Specs I need are: Factory boost levels (psi), 0-60 times, 1/4mile times, downpipe diameter, etc.. I need to know the basics before I start to modify. Thanks!!!

your car wont run the same as 'motor trend 1/4 mile time with GSX' so just go run it a few times.. is that so hard?
boost is 15psi but leaks with 2g bov at 12. why do you need stock diameter to modify? get 3 inch exhaust, doesnt matter what it was or is. probably 2.25 |

specifications
Its not hard to run my car in the 1/4 mile, but its good to know if you are above or below the average. From what I know, turbos run on back pressure.. If its a heavy modified car, big turbo and 3" exhaust is great, However, if its not, 2.5" exhaust and downpipe is good enough.. Don't want to sacrafice bottom end torque and power for no reason. Get it. A big turbo and big downpipe is only good if you have the power to fill it.. No magical pieces. Thanks for your input.

Re: specifications
so are you trying to ask how you should mod your car? you are going to mod it, so what does it matter what the stock specs are? do you want to know what mods can lead to what 1/4 times, or what kind of things will give you more power? i'm trying to figure out what importance knowing the stock specs has to do with modding it when there is a wealth of info an how and what to do...

Now to confuse matters worse, consider the turbo you are going to be running and what your future plans for the car are. If you plan to go big later on get the 3" now to avoid upgrading twice (like I did ). BUT, with a 3" exhaust on antyhing larger than the stock turbo, you WILL have to do some porting of the turbine housing and O2 housing to get boost under control. Its easy to do it yourself if you arent afraid to, there is even a vfaq on what to do. Just be aware of it, so you can take corrective action when boost creeps to 20+ psi. ![]() That being said, the best thing to do with a turbo DSM is to get the 3" right off the bat, and do the appropriate porting to get boost under control. Drive it on...

Thanks for the info 95 GSXracer!!
Now to answer this question: so are you trying to ask how you should mod your car? you are going to mod it, so what does it matter what the stock specs are? do you want to know what mods can lead to what 1/4 times, or what kind of things will give you more power? i'm trying to figure out what importance knowing the stock specs has to do with modding it when there is a wealth of info an how and what to do... No I wasn't asking to how to mod my car, but that info is also important to me. I want to know the stock specs for my own personal knowledge. For example, I buy a 98 gst, it feels great to me b/c I never drove one before, but the boost gauge is only showing 5 psi or 10 psi. Therefore I would assume that these were stock levels not really know the potential of the car or if there was a problem. This is why I like to know the stock specs. Don't have to know to mod the car, but want to know for personal knowledge. Thanks |

Stock boost should be 14 psi. Dont go by the factory guage on the dash, its not actually a boost guage
That should be everyones first mod by the way. 1/4 mile time is 15 flat for the AWDs, and mid to upper 15s for FWD. Not sure about 0-60, but like every other FWD car, its nothing spectacular I'm sure.

It has taken quite a few posts to get some answers, not great ones but answers none the less. 95 GSXracer has been the most informative and thank you. I posted this question to get information for personal knowledge. Yes I am a newbie, but I have been racing a turbo Grand National for 4 years which ran 9's in the quarter on a stock computer with a monitoring system. I have a pretty good idea how to tune turbo cars but I wanted basic info before I started to make changes. This is all. BTW does anyone know of a good monitoring system for these cars? Something that monitors knock and O2 volts..Thanks

goalieman easy easy tiger your right his ? did get asnwered after 4 posts and kevin answered. everyone else asked him why do you care about the stock spec blah blah blah dont worry about it just answer the ?. for some reason it just pissed me off after reading down 4 posts before finally seeing some one actually answer his ? instead of asking him ?. goaliman you said "his ? was answered it just took more info" what extra info could possibley need to answer the ? what are the stock specs of the gst. he even specified what he was looking for stock boost,0-60,1/4 so take your flame else where I'm just looking out for the newbie here. hey also 1qwik4 to answer your ? about a datologger I personally suggest DSMlink becuase you can log and tune it. its about 2 notches below a full blown standalone and its only $654.00 compared to 1200 for an AEM,or power fc etc etc. www.dsmlink.com

Re: GS-T Stock Specifications
sorry i didnt answer your question in the first sentence. its not like you could maybe do a 5 seconds of research and find out yourself or anything. btw i saw 'turbo and backpressure' in the same sentence and knew kevin would have that in the first line of his post :P
