speakers

anyone know what size the front speakers are in a 91 non-turbo, they are in the door so I was thinking 6 1/2 but the guy at circuit city said they are 4... if they are 4 is it possible to cut it to fit 6 1/2 and if so how difficult is it?

I'm pretty sure the rear is 6 1/2 as well, but the guy at circuit city also said they were 4, my cousin has an 88 and his are 6 in the back so I'm thinking they guy looked at the wrong thing or is just dumb or something. anyone know for sure though?

i have a 86 gxl and the rear can take 6 1/2". there is an adapter for the 6 1/2". mine came with the stock amped encasing with the 4". for the rear, what i did was went to the junk yard and got some adapters off another rx-7. the adapters are basically flat circular pieces of metal that mounts the 6 1/2 to the rear tower.

my 90 gtu has the door speakers but i've never messed with the side speakers yet since its still works ok. maybe i will get new speakers for it when it needs them.. the front can take 6 1/2" too and the rear can take 6 1/2" if you have the adapter.

check out www.crutchfield.com.
they have a little tool that helps you figure out the sizes of the speakers you need. i used it when i first got my rx7. i think crutchfield has adapters for the rear too. been a while since i last checked. i think they give them to you if you buy speakers there or you can buy them separately, not sure.

hope this helps.

the front dash mount are 4" that aim downwards a little and the towers inthe back are 6 or 6.5 depending on the year adapter you get.
