Help the Noob

Hello there. New kid on the block here. Just wondering what is the best engine to go into a 1996 Firebird? I know this has been covered on many other threads, but I am new and don't understand a lot of the terminology. So if someone could come along and straighten it all out for I would be greatly thankful. Please remember I am new and don't understand alot of it. I do understand the basics though if that helps.

Re: Help the Noob

Stock, it would be an LT1, though I'd convert it to an LT4.

Thanks for answeing you guys. The info is appreciated. Sorry, but can I get some stats on those engines and the difficulty level on swapping them in? That is if it is not too much trouble.

Thanks BlkCamaroSS. The info was helpful. So if I go with the LT4 do I have to reconstruct the engine bat at all? And can this engine withstand boost? I haven't read the whole site, so if it is in there somewhere just point me in that direction.

I've heard that you can get Chevy engines in the Pontiac. Would you suggest this or not? And if you do how hard is it to get ahold of one and swap it in?

Re: Help the Noob

Well, being that the LT1/LT4's were first in Corvettes, and then put in Camaros and Firebirds, you'd already have a Chevy 350 (346) in there

As for the LT4 conversion, you don't have to change the size of the engine bay to do it. Simple swap of parts...
