I have a 85' iroc in good running condition it is completely stock. I want it to run a 12.5, so my question is what is the cheapesy way to get there while staying NA? Btw it is automatic. I want you guys to list everything from cams, to guages i am going to need, to better rear end, traction bars, tires i mean everything. I am willing to get it bored out if I have to. Also I wanted to stay under $2900 ....is this possible??? PS sorry for being a newbie I really dont know about these cars that much yet i used to own a talon tsi AWD.

Looks to me you have it all down but I'd go with a 2500 stall

Re: 85 iroc to a 12.5

well batman, i would say you have a pretty good handle on what your lookin at, but what heads are you talkin about when you say chevy 2.02/1.60 64cc heads? that can mean alot of them. my suggestion, use vortech heads if you can, they are comparitively cheapper than dirt, and flow as well as some bowtie heads, especially with the 2.02 1.60 valves. you have to get an intake with the right bolt pattern, but aside from that, they bolt right on. i think a set of new vortecs are around 450 bucks now for both. and also, rather than doing all the expencive machine work to alter the heads for more lift, i reccomend this, use comp cams beehive springs, i forget thepart numbers right now, but they allow up to a .525 lift with no mods to the heads. and offer a progressive lift which is easyer on valve train components. and if you are looking to go 12's, i would run an even looser converter, and a ratchet shifter on that auto. also, a corvette 1st / 2nd servo, and a B&M transkit. with high performance clutch pads and built in shift kit. 700's tend to be rather slushy and will probly be your biggest obsical to running low ET's. so i would definately not forget to do something to your trans. alot of power is great, but if your trans cant put it down, you might as well have a four banger
