96-98 4.6 vs. 99-up 4.6

Can someone please tell me what the major differences are between the early and later 4.6's and are the parts and procedures interchangeable?
Thanks for the help!

The parts are interchangeable. Changing the heads will increase the compression ratio to more than stock and more than '99-up stock.
